Guest House Via Milano

We never actually stayed here, unfortunately, or perhaps fortunately. We booked directly with Katia after the host convinced us to book outside the major platform where she advertises. We wanted to support a small business and avoid the high commission those platforms charge. Katia said the place was suitable for small children, but after we paid a deposit, we learned that the bunk bed wasn’t great for toddlers. We asked for our money back. During a long phone call, she yelled at us for 30 minutes straight, then said we wouldn’t get a refund. We said we’d still stay if she could find a solution. She replied that we’d cancelled and she’d already found someone else to take the room, which seems very unlikely in low season, in Catanzaro of all places. Never book outside platforms if you want a safety net.

The room was comfortable and the location was good. Our travel plans got mixed up, though, and we stayed for 2 nights instead of the 3 we’d booked. We’d given several days’ notice, and the room was available and unrequested, but the host still wanted payment for that unused night. I would’ve appreciated more understanding and flexibility.

The house was spotless and had every comfort, and its location was strategic. Kakatia and Francesco were so polite, kind, and attentive to everything I needed. That’s what you hope for from a guest house. I felt almost at home. Thank you, and see you soon :)

It’s just a few minutes on foot from the historic center and the train station that connects the city to the coastal neighborhood, so the location worked really well. The B&B was excellent, very clean, and well equipped. The hostess gave us a warm welcome, answered our questions, and suggested local bars, pizzerias, and restaurants. See you next time ♡
