Hotel Europa Monetti

The best parts of our stay at Hotel Europa Monetti were the location, the clean, well-kept facilities, and the friendly, professional staff. Still, at this price I expected a bit more value. Parking cost €18 per day even for hotel guests, which felt excessive for a hotel in this category. Access to the sauna and spa also cost extra, unlike at some other hotels we’ve stayed in, such as one in Budapest. The room fridge was tiny too, barely big enough for four cans of soda, which wasn’t practical during a long summer stay. We enjoyed ourselves, but there’s room to improve.

We had a great stay at Europa Monetti even though the airline had lost our luggage for the first four days of our holiday. The staff were lovely and helpful, from Alberto Monetti to the cleaning team, and we’d happily recommend this family-friendly hotel to friends. The beach is close, and there are plenty of good restaurants nearby. Inside, there are comfortable places to relax, a good bar with nice drinks at reasonable prices, and a small library on each floor. Breakfast had an acceptable choice, and even the machine coffee was good. The pool is small but pleasant, with a bar and decent music. I think we may return, perhaps to another hotel in the small chain. The drain smell just outside may have been due to local building work, and our air conditioning wasn’t great, though that was easily fixed.

The food was excellent and well priced, including at the bar. There’s also a spa, a gym, and a pleasant outdoor pool. Rooms were clean, tidy, and spacious, and the service was fabulous. It’s a handy base for cyclists and for exploring, with the beach close by. There’s a small terrace at the front and parking behind the hotel.

We visited in April 2014, during the off season, so the hotel was nearly empty. The pool was too cold, and the beach a block away wasn’t warm enough for swimming either. Our room was a nice size and clean, with a good shower, and breakfast was nice. The front desk staff were very pleasant. There was free parking via the back alley. I think they offer free bike rental, but check with the hotel.
