Il Ghebo

We had a disgraceful experience. The hot water was limited, the air conditioning didn't work, and there was no way to heat the room. I think the owner isn't in charge. He tried to distract us with nonsense about this just being how things are in Italy. I wouldn't recommend this place.

I booked three nights at the last minute, then my travel plans to Italy were cancelled, so I couldn't leave the UK. Just 13 hours after booking, I sent Il Ghebo proof that my transport had been cancelled and asked to cancel, but they refused. Booking.com agreed that I should get a full refund and asked them to issue it, but Il Ghebo never responded. It took more than two weeks of repeated chasing before the 'manager' replied. They had plenty of availability, so they didn't lose money by refunding me, but they clearly don't care when something happens that's outside your control. This was the worst customer service I've had. There's no refund option when booking, so be aware that if you can't make it, they may keep your money. Avoid!

There’s no luxury here, but this small hotel is quite cozy and works fine for a modest overnight stay. It’s a great base for Venice and close to the port. Free parking right beside the hotel is a nice extra.

The houselady was very kind, and breakfast was good. Our room was clean and air-conditioned, and the garden was spacious and pleasant. For Venice, the price is reasonable. Punto Sabbioni port is 500 metres away. The rooms are small, and the Wi-Fi didn’t work very well.
