Residence Joker

The beach spot assigned to us was taken by other people, and our fridge was broken. Staff sorted out both issues as quickly as they could, and the entertainment team did a great job. Still, the holiday's value for money doesn't come close to four stars. We'd expected a four-star residence, but the only place we saw that rating was on the sign at the building entrance, where it was listed as two stars. Our room felt dated and uninviting, with a lot of mold in the kitchen and bathroom. The kitchenette was very basic, so cooking took planning, and there weren't many dishes; the ones there needed replacing. The air conditioner worked, but was dusty and full of cobwebs. Phone reception in the room was almost nonexistent, and Wi-Fi cost extra.

The beach is about 200 metres away, with loungers to reserve and a beach bar for a drink. We had a really nice holiday and I'd happily recommend Residence Joker. It's a well-kept apartment complex attached to the campsite. Check-in is at the reception across the way. Our apartment had a small kitchen, assorted dishes and, most usefully, a refrigerator. There was air conditioning, a safe and free Wi-Fi too. Everything was clean and very well maintained.

The room was spotless, but for €1000 a week it was a letdown. It's old and put together carelessly, with no hairdryer and hardly any pots or pans in the kitchen. The resort made up for a lot of that, though. The food was delicious, the staff were friendly, and the beach was beautiful, so we still had a lovely holiday.

For the price, the studio had the basics and was furnished pretty sparsely. It could have felt like a good deal, but we were left to manage on our own. The €100 deposit for three nights was disappointing, though I could understand it for a longer stay. Phone reception was nearly zero, and the TV often lost its signal, even on national channels. The rules seemed confusing and copied from the campsite's standard ones. There were extra charges for requests: for example, additional guests had to pay €13.00 a day to use the campsite facilities. We had visitors and didn't use any of the services included in the price. The last weekend of August, running into September, felt a bit expensive.
