Camping Le Tamerici

We booked Le Tamerici through The Sun £9.50 holidays, a promotion I’ve had many great stays with, and this trip on the Tuscan coast was just as good. The accommodation was basic but clean, with handy little extras like washing-up liquid and bin bags. Our Eurocamp hosts were lovely and really helpful. I’d read plenty of comments about miserable staff at the bar, reception and restaurant, but everyone we met was super nice. A special shout-out to the very smiley, helpful woman in the food shop. August is busy, and the pool gets very full, but people make room for one another and nobody was rude. You do have to pay for sunbeds, though you can put down a towel and relax in the sun or shade. The beach is just a few minutes’ walk through gorgeous pine woods. We’re from Norfolk UK, and it felt just like walking from Holkham to Wells, if you know, you know lol. The sand is dark and doesn’t stick to you, and the warm sea has crashing waves that are great for swimming. Cecina is also a few minutes’ walk from the beach, a cute town with lots of good places to eat and drink. There are private beaches, but we didn’t use them. In the evening the town comes alive, with Italians strolling, chatting and socialising in the cool air. A little train runs to town from 9pm and brings you back until around 12am. We spent a day at Aqua Village and had a fantastic time. Top tip, picnic at the back of the park, where there’s much more space and privacy. This is a really great park, and we’ll definitely return to Cecina. Pisa is our next stop, only an hour away by train.

The setting is a very good one. Forest and beach are a 3 minute walk away, there’s a great big pool, and the staff are very friendly. Cecina is lively and you can walk or cycle there. The seafront promenade is close enough to walk to, too. The porch in front of the cabin was very nice, and the air conditioning worked well. Some things in the home were frustrating. The beds are very small, and the whole 6-person cabin moves when you turn or shift in bed. A six-person home only had six spoons, cups and plates, so there was always a lot of washing up. There’s no shower thermostat, so you keep adjusting between hot and cold, which wastes a lot of water. The bikes for rent were old and expensive, € 55,- for 2 weeks.

We stayed in a glamping tent with its own bathroom and kitchen. It got very hot inside during the day and chilly at night, but our kid loved the experience. The pool was large and pleasantly warm, and the pine forest next to the campsite was fantastic.

The pool was great, and you don’t need hats. There’s also a nice football playground and beautiful nature close to the camping groud. On the downside, the animation could be better because it was only in italian, and the coffee at the bar was horrible. It’s a nice camp overall. The beach is a 15 min walk through a magnificent pine forest, or you can take a shuttle that runs every 30 min. The beach itself is nice, though nothing special.
