Hotel La Giara

The only things I liked were the location and split system aircon. The rooms were really dirty. I couldn't walk barefoot without getting stuff stuck to my feet, the shower was gross, and it felt like nobody had bothered to maintain or update the place. The cutlery at breakfast was incredibly dirty, and the breakfast itself wasn't good. My husband and I were on our honeymoon but got two beds that were smaller than a single and rock hard. It felt more like a party hotel. On the first night I asked them to turn down the music at 11:00pm so we could sleep. They said we might need to wait an hour, though they eventually did turn it down. It was incredibly noisy both morning and night, and you could hear everything.

The view is hard to beat, and Alessio and Mustafa made the evening special with their unmatched hospitality. A definite must-visit for drinks after dinner or at sunset in Positano!

The staff gave great service, and the rooftop terrace offered panoramic views of Cefalu. It was a nice place to stay overall, but there were several problems: poor Wi-Fi, bad drainage that left water pooling in the shower, and a rock-hard sofa bed. The room air conditioning didn't work well, and breakfast options were limited. They only supplied one roll of toilet paper, so even after room service you'd have to ask for another.

The people were very nice and the location was great, but the facilities need attention. The toilet and some other utilities were broken, and the shower was old, rusty, and tiny. The sheets were extremely itchy. Breakfast was easy to skip, especially for vegetarians or vegans, and the Wi-Fi was weak and unstable. I hope they improve the place, since it has a lot of potential.
