Ferienhaus Aronia

We stayed for a week over Easter this year and were very happy with the well-equipped, lovely, and affordable holiday apartment "Mendel". We were in town for the Easter conference of "Forum Vivit", and getting to Merano was easy by car or the free bus. The hosts were wonderful.

There’s parking right in front of the house, and Merano is reachable by bus. Hiking trails are an easy walk away. The friendly host family welcomed us with delicious strudel, vegetables, juice, and wine. It’s a cozy holiday home with a lovely garden for relaxing or barbecuing, plus play areas for children. Dogs are welcome too. Everything was perfect, and we’d highly recommend it.

We never missed having a car. The South Tyrol Mobilcard has been free for all guests year-round since this year, and we used it a lot. Buses and regional trains are excellent, modern, air-conditioned, and very clean. From the stop at Tscherms Carbinieri, less than five minutes from the accommodation, a short ride toward Lana reaches grocery stores and an excellent bakery. Merano is about 15 minutes away. The South Tyrol Mobile app is handy for planning routes and seeing vehicle locations in real time, especially if the bus stop display isn’t working. Trains worked well for us too: Eurocity services run several times a day from Munich to Italy, with a short transfer in Bolzano to a regional train to Merano. Remember to reserve a seat, and get off at Merano-Untermais station. Our hosts kindly arranged the transfer to the accommodation. We spent two lovely weeks there with our family in July in the Ifinger holiday apartment with the Malleier family. It’s modern and perfectly equipped, with an extra guest toilet in our case, and the balcony has a magnificent mountain view. They treated us to homemade apple and aronia juice, garden apples and vegetables, apricot cake, and apple strudel. We also got practical hiking suggestions, including the beautiful Val d'Ultimo. The garden is beautiful, there’s parking, and the bread roll service is fantastic. We also enjoyed organic apple juice, aronia juice, and homemade apples. The hosts are incredibly welcoming, and the guesthouse is in a great spot for Merano and the surrounding area. The bus stop is only a two-minute walk away, and the ride to Merano city center takes about seven minutes. Buses are usually free in South Tyrol and very convenient. It’s the kind of place that makes you want to stay longer. A perfect holiday, highly recommended.
