Albergo Ristorante Della Torre

The lake view is breathtaking, and our room was super clean. We had a marvelous weekend here, with delicious breakfast included and homemade Italian food at the restaurant. It’s a small boutique hotel, which made the stay feel like a real Italian experience. A little Italian helps, since they barely speak English.

The food and service were high quality, and the people were polite. Our room was clean and tidy, and we had a really pleasant stay. I recommend it.

We left after sitting there for 20 minutes without being served. Nobody came to ask if we wanted a drink, and although we'd asked for a free table on the open side, people walked in and sat down without any waiter reacting. The restaurant wasn't full. The couple who came in had no reservation and were waiting for someone to ask them about a table. I was speaking with the waiter about moving to a table that had just been vacated, and it hadn't been set up for another guest. It’s fine if you’re understaffed, but don’t lie about what happened or about the guest experience. Worst service we’ve had in Como.

The breakfast server was adorable, easily the best employee we met, and we could always find parking nearby, even with the restaurant packed each night. The air conditioning worked well in our room, and we didn't hear much noise from downstairs. The beds were a little firm but fine. We stayed four nights in room 4. As far as we could tell, it was the only room with an exterior bathroom. We knew about that in advance and thought all the rooms were like it, but other rooms were empty during our stay and seemed to have bathrooms inside. Showering was the worst part: there was no window or ventilation, so the bathroom got hot and humid, and we couldn't leave the door open because it was off the hallway by the stairs, where people could see in. The water kept switching from hot to cold and back during a 10-minute shower without us touching the faucet. We tried twice to book a table at the restaurant, but the staff were rushing around and nobody came to take our order, even after we waited by the register for five minutes each time. We gave up and ate elsewhere every night. A shame. Without a car, I wouldn't recommend staying here, since the walk back up the hill is long.
