Crotto Polirolo - Lake Como Terrace

The view is beautiful and the location is excellent, but we ran into serious problems during our stay. After rain all day, a heavy downpour at night woke us because water was coming into the kitchen through gaps in the wooden windows. The floor was flooded. We spent about an hour putting buckets under the windows and mopping up water that kept pouring in. If we hadn’t woken up and stopped it, the whole room might have flooded. It was terrible. We had booked La Finestra Sul Lago through Booking. The arrival instructions sent us to a different apartment with another name, and the code for the lock we tried didn’t work. We were standing in pouring rain and had to call the office. Staff told us to read the instructions carefully and laughed at us. Once we got through the gate, the parking space assigned to our apartment was taken. We parked nearby, but staff said we couldn’t use neighboring spaces and had to leave the parking area. About an hour later, an employee came and found that cleaners had left their car in our spot. We appreciated that the employee came and sorted out the parking issue. The apartment itself was clean, pleasant, and had everything we needed, with free parking when available. It’s about a 15-minute walk to Cernobbio center along Via Plinio, with gorgeous views of Lake Como and the city. The apartment has no elevator, so be prepared to use the stairs. Check-in is at 15 o'clock and check-out at 10 a.m. Once you’ve booked and paid, you’re sent an email link to register guests, upload documents, and sign a rental agreement. The owners then send a link to pay the city tax of 3 euros per person per day. We booked and paid, but staff only sent the entry instructions after we reminded them.
