The staff made this the worst experience of our whole trip. They were downright rude and didn’t seem willing to accommodate any of our requests. I told them on the phone that I don’t speak Italian, but they kept talking, almost shouting, in Italian, and I had no idea what they meant. I’d already let them know through booking.com what time I’d arrive, and kept repeating it, but they wouldn’t accept it. They spoke as if they didn’t need any customers. Horrible service. A big no ❌

The room was spacious and cozy, and the bathroom was amazing, with shampoo, soap and towels. Wifi was very fast, and parking in the yard was free. Breakfast at the cafe was included in the price: coffee and a croissant, with delicious sandwiches available to buy. The old town is very close, and the quality for the price is good. We stayed in number 1, with windows facing a busy street. It was fairly quiet at night and we slept well, but since we were only there one night, we’d ask for a room farther from the street for a longer stay. Sound isolation was 0/10, as in many places 😀.

The hotel is close to the town center, with lots of bars and restaurants nearby. The funicular up to Certaldo Alto, a medieval walled town on the hill, is a must. It’s also right across from the station, which was handy arriving by train. I hired a car and got a parking space at the hotel, though it was a tight fit. I stayed five nights during a very hot spell in July 2024, and the air conditioning was much appreciated. I was warmly welcomed and check-in was quick. The room was spacious, the bed comfortable, the shower powerful, and everything worked, including the small fridge for cold drinks. Breakfast was at a nearby cafe. I went to Cafe Jam by the station, which was busy and had great coffee and pastries. The hotel breakfast card gets you one of each. The room could use a kettle for hot drinks. Very good value, highly recommended.
