Fernando told us we were the first Carnesecchi family to visit Castello di Santa Maria Novella in 500 years. My ancestors had owned the castle for 300 years, so it was amazing to walk through the courtyard and rooms they once knew. Since we had the place to ourselves, Fernando let us choose a bedroom, and we picked the large one opening straight onto the courtyard. We saw paintings of my ancestors still hanging on the walls, our family crest, and our surname carved above the main entrance. It was a beautiful experience. We also met the owner, Claudia, and her daughter Marta, who was due to have her wedding there the weekend after we left. Fernando, Allison, Claudia, and Marta were all so gracious and friendly, and we were glad to meet them. I hope to return someday. We would have loved to see photos of Marta's wedding.

We stayed at the castle for a three-day wedding. The setting is stunning, and the castle itself is beautiful. Being able to stay overnight was wonderful, and the pool was a nice bonus.

The staff were helpful, and it’s a beautiful location. We went for a wedding and left with a lovely memory. A small fridge or bar in the room and by the pool would make it perfect.
