It’s a quiet, very informal place, a good fit if you’d rather sleep away from city noise. The room has an old-fashioned, cozy look that anyone who likes that style will appreciate. There’s no air conditioning, but the owner provided three or four fans, which helped in the summer heat. Sleeping arrangements include a main bedroom with a mosquito net over the bed and a single bed, plus another double bedroom and a second bathroom. You’ll also find an oven, stove, dishes and pots for cooking.

Roberto, the owner, was friendly and helpful, and we’d happily come back. The apartment was spacious, clean and furnished in a rustic style. It’s also well placed for trips to San Gimignano, Certaldo and the other lovely villages nearby.

The house itself is beautiful, but we had trouble with the uncomfortable mattresses and a toilet flush that didn’t work well. The owner was hard to reach, and getting the heating on was difficult too. It was October and chilly, and we had our four-year-old daughter with us.

We had a lovely stay. The place was peaceful, and the owners were very kind.
