Podere Benintendi

The road closure was the biggest problem for us. Someone outside the agriturismo, perhaps the municipality, had blocked the whole road, adding a 25-minute detour every time we went in or out. We booked a week ahead, so I assume they knew, but nobody warned us before arrival. Paying the full price while making that detour morning and afternoon to reach an already remote place felt unacceptable. The way it was presented, as a casual “this happened, deal with it,” was frustrating. We didn't even know how to reach the place at first, and finding the detour was hard because navigation apps didn't show the closure. Our renovated room had very good facilities, though not all the rooms have been updated. Ants were a constant issue. I opened a snack and within a minute it was covered, which made sleeping there unpleasant. Breakfast was good, but at check-in we were told we'd only booked it for one person. Maybe I made that mistake, but I would've expected the property to check the reservation and tell me before arrival. The pool was good, if a little cold. The gym had decent equipment, though it wasn't very clean and had no air conditioning. Overall, the facilities are okay, but cleaning and the way guests are treated need improvement.

We spent five days here and enjoyed every minute. From the hilltop there are lovely 360-degree views across Tuscany, and Certaldo, with its restaurants, supermarket and places to see, is only five minutes away. Staff were lovely and looked after what we needed. Our room had a big bed, a stove, fridge, full cooking set, dining table and cable TV. There are shared spaces too, including a pool, gym, professional billiard table and a well-stocked minibar. The large garden has ponds and plenty of places to sit and relax, and was especially romantic for a morning walk. Breakfast is included; dinner costs extra, and the food is homemade and very tasty. Highly recommended.

We had a relaxing, memorable stay at Podere Benintendi. The staff made us feel welcome and comfortable, the interiors were clean and pleasant, and the grounds are beautifully maintained. The views over the countryside are stunning, and breakfast was exceptional. San Gimignano is an easy short drive away. Our dog had fun playing with their golden retriever Riva. I'd happily recommend it for a Tuscan getaway.

This little Tuscan paradise is a good place to properly unwind. There's a great pool, a gym with the basics, and a lavatory if you need to do laundry. Breakfast is great too, and there's plenty more I could mention. Stay longer than one night if you can. Firenze is about 40km away, San Gimignano around a 20-minute drive, and Pisa and Lucca are reachable too. More than five stars from me. 💚🤍❤
