The owner runs the place with a big smile and pays attention to all the details. The location is perfect.

The room was noisy, the bed uncomfortable, and the hotel seemed poorly maintained. The older man at reception was unfriendly. I expected more from a three-star hotel.

The way management handled things was embarrassing, and I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. After I fell in the street one evening and hurt myself, I came back and asked for ice. They said they had none. I asked for the first aid kit instead, but they refused and even laughed at me. Completely unacceptable. There are four parking spaces, two at the front and two at the back. My car was parked out front. The manager doesn’t drive, so he asked some guys to move my car for him, offering not to charge them the tourist tax. The owners of another car that had been moved by a stranger came back while this was happening and were understandably shocked and annoyed. Calling this a hotel feels like a stretch. It was a disastrous stay, and this place should close immediately.

The evening receptionist, who is the owners’ son, was cheerful and welcoming, and knew how to get customers chatting. The daytime receptionist was a completely different story: he barely replied to greetings, was rude and grumpy, wouldn’t discuss problems, and didn’t even look at people when answering them. When I mentioned that noisy youngsters had kept us awake for two nights with loud talking, singing and slamming doors, he said he didn’t believe me and that it wasn’t his problem. If I’d booked in Milano Marittima, I should have expected it. There was no apology or offer to see what could be done. That response makes it sound as if bad manners are part of Milano Marittima, and ignores that vandalism can damage the hotel too. The hotel could become a real little gem if it changed the daytime receptionist. Apart from that, we had a good stay. The location is excellent, right by the sea and a short walk from the centre, and breakfast was simple but good. Given the much lower price, I didn’t expect Grand Hotel service or quality.

Never again. We went to reception to get our car keys because we were leaving, and the man shouted at us and used truly impolite language. He was annoyed because so many people had asked him to move their cars, and told us not to come back. We hadn’t even asked him to move ours, but guests shouldn’t be treated that way regardless. If they can’t manage it, they shouldn’t offer the service. The parking area holds four cars, two in front and two behind, and guests are asked to leave their keys so cars can be moved when someone needs to get out. The location is excellent, very close to the sea. The receptionists’ rudeness spoils everything else. If they’re already exhausted in June, I can’t imagine what September is like. Friendliness matters in this line of work, so they should change jobs.
