Hotel Escorial

The location and price were the only real positives for our family of two adults and a 19-month-old baby. The room was small but had what we needed, though the cleaning needed more care. It felt like they were just tidying up instead of properly cleaning. The service at reception was terrible and minimal during the poor breakfast buffet. We weren't allowed to take a piece of fruit to eat later in the morning. They said it had to be eaten at the table assigned to our room. There’s no stroller ramp. To avoid the entrance steps, you have to go through the laundry room on level -1 and then take the elevator. Parking is basic but available. The time when the gate closes is unclear. One night we came back from dinner at 11:30 PM and they were just closing it, but the next day it was already shut at 10 PM. They do guarantee that reception is open. At checkout, we paid by POS, and the lady seemed quite annoyed because they didn't accept cash. For a weekend, it's enough, since it's really close to the beach, but I wouldn't return or recommend it. There was no empathy or warm welcome, not even a smile. I work with the public too, and consider that an important part of this kind of work.

The beach is only a three- to four-minute walk away, and hotel guests get a discount on beach loungers. We spent three weeks here with our two daughters and my wife, and had a great time. Breakfast and dinner were varied and plentiful, with many homemade pasta dishes. You can really tell it's a family business. The rooms are all air-conditioned and a good size, and the beds are comfortable. I last stayed at this family-run hotel 35 years ago with my parents, and this visit didn't disappoint either. We'd love to come back!

We really appreciated how attentive they were to children and how well things were organized for guests with gluten-free needs. It was easy to feel comfortable here. The hotel was spotless, looked after down to the smallest detail, and had a genuinely welcoming atmosphere. A little gem on the Riviera for families. We'd gladly return!

The whole staff were smiling and ready to help, and the B&B service was excellent. I spent four days here in July. My top-floor room had views of the sea, pine forest, and hills of beautiful Romagna. Everything was well kept and very clean, the location was quiet, and the bed was incredibly comfortable for a good night's sleep. Breakfast was excellent too, with homemade jams, a good choice of bread, pastries, fruit, and more. We'll definitely return.
