Hotel Trionfal

We came back after many years, remembering the hotel fondly, and were shocked by the state of it. It felt like a "survival and nostalgia" holiday, with maintenance apparently ignored: holes in the walls, rusty broken windows, and even a missing toilet seat that we had to ask for as if it were a luxury extra. The pool was embarrassingly dirty and had no lifeguard. It felt more like a test of how much guests will put up with than somewhere to relax. The food wasn’t bad enough to make you fast, but it was nowhere near good. You could find something to eat if you kept expectations low. It’s a real shame our memories were so different. As it is now, this place belongs in an episode of "Holiday Nightmares." I wouldn’t recommend it unless you’re looking for a cautionary tale to tell your friends.

Reception staff worked hard to find us another place, and the partner hotel they suggested, the Hotel Ambra, turned out to be beautiful, clean, and friendly. We were even able to choose the room we wanted, and our stay there went very well. The transfer made for a better ending, but the start was awful. We’d paid as soon as we arrived, then found our first room in a messy state. After reporting it, we were moved to another room, but that wasn’t much better. Leaves and lots of dirt were under a bed, and it was clear the floor hadn’t been properly cleaned for some time. A woman came to sweep after we called reception, while the stairs and common areas were dirty and neglected too. For personal hygiene reasons, we’d already decided not to stay at that hotel. The reception team did help us find a solution, which I appreciate.

The restaurant and service were excellent, and the location was excellent too. My room had a 1970s look, but it was clean and comfortable. Hotel TRIONFAL seems just right for a holiday with some fun and some peace and quiet, without too much of either.

The beachside location is the one good thing about this hotel. In room 306, the tap water was brown, some ceiling panels were missing, and housekeeping left a dirty blanket on the bed. Worse, a strange man suddenly came into our son’s room, room 308, on the first night. We were told at reception that a master key had been handed out by mistake, and that there was no problem. But when we spoke to the man in room 208 half an hour later, he still had the same key, with a handwritten sticker on it. The key for room 208 also opened 308. Our son slept in our room after that. The door to 308 couldn’t be locked from outside, and the hotel didn’t fix it, so we had to push hard to get him a different room for the second night. The hotel simply brushed off what happened, with no effort to make things right or even respond afterwards. Absolutely unacceptable!
