Grand Hotel Le Fonti

The staff were friendly, but the hotel feels like it’s already in ICU. I came with a group tour. The room was very small, with old equipment and worn items, no power sockets to charge a phone, and a cramped bathing area.

Dinner came with an entree, a first course, a second course, and dessert to fill the little gaps. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and would have liked to spend a few more days enjoying the thermal water. It’s a traditional, classic hotel with incredible service and spectacular views. It brings back memories of the past while adapting to the world today.

The room had no tea or coffee maker or kettle, even on request. For a cup of hot water, I had to go downstairs and get it in a paper cup. There wasn’t an intercom to call reception either. They said they offered room service, but ordering meant going down to reception. The small lifts took a long time to bring us and our luggage up. In the room, the table was too small to open even one medium-sized suitcase, so we kept the rest of our bags on the floor. The bathroom door wouldn’t lock, and one bedside lamp didn’t work. We were surprised at check-in at Hotel La Fonti by the lack of basic facilities.

Bugs were on the walls, and there was hair in the shower, under the sheets, and even in the soap bottle. Rust and mildew or mold were building up. The front desk told us this was normal and every hotel was like this, which it isn’t. After going back and forth, they gave us another room that was only barely better. The sink and mirror were cracked there. Everything smelled, and everything was rusty and dirty. I felt uncomfortable the whole stay. We’ve been country hopping, and no hotel has ever been this bad. It was horrible. Never coming back, stay away!
