Hotel Del Mar

The shower felt a little cramped, and parking took some luck, though we always found a paid spot. It worked well for a short stay. The small room was very nice, with the hotel within walking distance of the main road and close to both the beach and city centre. Breakfast had several pastries, mostly sweet, in the Italian style.

The seagulls up on the roof made quite a racket at night, which was the one downside. Otherwise, we had everything we needed in the clean apartment, including two bathrooms and a nearly fully equipped kitchen that was enough for our stay. The furniture looked fairly new. We rented a garage space and could use the bike lot too, and the beach was an 8-minute walk away, with beach service and a shower included. The family hotel had a really welcoming Italian feel. The owner and his daughter were helpful and attentive, and everyone was nice and friendly. Grazie mille per tutto!

I ended up without a stay after the other places had sold out, because I didn't book through the hotel. The service was very poor. They sent a reservation for dates they didn't actually have, and only after I accepted the conditions did they say it was sold out, leaving the problem with me. All the correspondence was in Italian, even though they knew I didn't speak it. Mrs. Daria was hard to get hold of and had to check everything with her superior, which dragged out the exchange.

We had mixed feelings. Breakfast tasted good, but if you weren't there early, you got whatever was left, like cake, yogurt, or fruit. The Wi-Fi disconnected whenever you left the room, so you had to enter both username and password again, which was a hassle. There was no room fridge, though you could ask them to keep something in theirs, and nowhere to hang beach towels except the terrace. The room was a normal size and clean, with good AC, and the sea was pretty close. They accept dogs, and the men at reception were very friendly. The bathroom in our room was especially tiny. If you're over 90 kg, you can't sit on the toilet without hitting the wall. Getting the room cleaned with a dog was difficult if you couldn't take him to the beach. We had a big argument about it with the reception lady, who was pretty unfriendly.
