Hotel Gnollhof

Getting here means driving the narrow, winding roads of the Dolomites, but the trip is worth it. The grounds and views are fantastic, the food is top shelf, and both the facilities and service are exceptional. Plan on a long stay.

Our mountain-view room at Gnollhof was stunning, and the accommodations were well appointed. We stayed in July 2024. Unfortunately, the restaurant service was far below what we expected. Staff often seemed unfriendly, and even straightforward questions appeared to be an inconvenience. A lot of staff spoke limited English, which made communication difficult. We were forgotten several times and had to chase things up after long waits. The food was a major letdown, especially compared with the other nine places we visited in the Dolomites. Breakfast was weak: the bread wasn't fresh, the fruit seemed past its best, and the buffet gave a cheap impression overall. The dessert buffet was unimpressive too, with items that seemed premade and wholesale sourced. Kaiserschmarrn was the exception, cooked well by the chef in front of us. The beautiful rooms and excellent location may explain the mostly positive reviews, but that wasn't our experience. Some shared areas, including the lobby and parts of the restaurant, could use modernization. The online photos show only the recently renovated sections, so what we found on arrival didn't fully match our expectations. Gnollhof has a lot of potential, but service, food, and common areas need improvement to live up to its location and reputation.

There was so much room in the public areas that the hotel always felt quiet and private. My partner and I loved the spa and pool, and the food was excellent. Our mountain-view room had a spectacular outlook. We couldn't recommend it more for a relaxing break.

Nice hotel and great service. The lounge gets pretty noisy and feels too small for a place this big. There’s also a huge gap between the cheaper rooms and the better ones, and the better rooms cost only a little more, so book one of those!
