Agriturismo La Chiusa

We loved having a garden and a pleasant terrace at this dog-friendly house, tucked among vineyards just south of Chiusdino. The town is about a 15-minute uphill walk away. The people were genuinely welcoming, even though check-in felt a little disorganized.

The apartment had plenty of room for our son to play and everything we needed, and Chiusdino is only a short drive away for daily essentials. The setting is beautiful, with a breathtaking view, and the price felt more than fair. We'd definitely return. One thing that bothered us was the repeated loud banging from the neighborhood, starting around 7:30 p.m. and happening roughly every ten minutes. It made sitting outside in the evening less pleasant, and I would have liked to ask the hosts what was causing it. The hosts were away on vacation at first and came back halfway through our stay, which was no problem. I would have appreciated them checking in once in a while. I understand not wanting to disturb guests, and I'm sure they would have answered questions if we'd had any, but I found the lack of a warm welcome surprising. In our past trips to Italy, hosts have always greeted us warmly, which is what we expected here too.

The owner was very rude when I told him about the problems. He said it wasn't a hotel, that I could have left right away, and that he hadn't come looking for me, I had come looking for him. Leaving wasn't really possible because I couldn't find anywhere else to stay. We only spent two nights there, and the whole stay was awful. The apartment was full of flies when we arrived, so we sprayed insecticide throughout and had to go out for dinner. The stove didn't work, and the accommodation felt very makeshift. I also paid to sleep on a sofa bed. I often travel for my sport and stay in B&Bs, guesthouses, hotels, and agriturismos, but I've never had such a bad experience.

The place is kept in really good condition. The rooms are simple, but lovely, and the surrounding area and views are stunning.
