The room was clean, and breakfast was generous and really good. We were celebrating a birthday and felt welcome, thanks to the very friendly staff. The pizzas we had on the first night were tasty and came with plenty of toppings. Dinner the next evening was a low point, though. My wife’s main course arrived along with my appetizers, much too early, and I didn’t care for the exotic spaghetti I ordered as my first course. The anchovy and seaweed combination just wasn’t to my taste. We were still happy with our stay, and grateful to the lovely staff.

The castle was beautifully kept, atmospheric, and romantic, but the restaurant fell far short of the setting. We visited Castello di Pavone as a group on a business trip, and the meal was extremely disappointing. The food felt carelessly made and served without much elegance. We got cold starters of very salty cakes and a few pieces of cheese, then plain bean soup and pork ribs. None of it felt like authentic Piemontese food, and the quality was poor. The wine seemed homemade and was low quality and unpleasant to drink. The offering came across as tourist-oriented, without the authenticity or value we hoped for. Castello di Pavone is worth seeing for the architecture and atmosphere, but I can’t recommend the food.

Our suite looked out toward the mountains, and it was beautiful. The staff were really friendly and spoke English. Food at the pizzeria was great too, especially the ribs, the best I had in Italy.

We loved the place and the views were amazing. The scrambled eggs at breakfast, though, were poor. I guess you can’t have it all.

We had a lovely lunch in this beautiful castle, seated in our own private room, which made it feel intimate and special. I ordered the ravioli, and honestly, they were among the best I’ve ever had. Service was excellent, with polite, elegant, and very presentable waiters. The castle has several dining rooms, and a group may get a private space depending on its size. There’s also overnight accommodation, though only staying guests can see the castle interiors. The courtyard was really nice too. I’d definitely come back.
