Relais Masseria Villa Cenci

I was there for a wedding, and the reception staff were lovely. I didn’t catch the name of the man who served us for both dinner and lunch, but he wore a suit and was the best, so welcoming! I was travelling with my baby, and the restaurant was baby friendly. The pool was amazing and the trulli were beautiful.

Simply breathtaking. The peaceful atmosphere, beauty, and architecture made this one of the most amazing places I’ve stayed. The pool area was amazing, and there were so many details inside and out. The staff were pleasant. Thanks for such a great stay. Kristian, South Australia.

The price doesn’t feel justified by the experience. The atmosphere didn’t match what the photos showed, and the amenities were poor quality. Our rooms by reception felt dated, and the furniture design and materials were far from what the pictures suggest. We’d stayed at Borgo Canonica the previous few days. It was an impeccable hotel, with well-designed rooms, top-quality service, and great surroundings. Knowing we paid less at BC makes me want to go back and compliment them even more.

The food was good, and the pool area was very nice. The setting is tranquil and attractive, and the location has a lot of potential. But the service at this retreat was a serious problem during our 4-night wedding stay. I don’t know whether all the good staff left during the Covid pandemic, but I’ve never encountered such uncaring, unwelcoming, and downright rude staff at a supposedly 4-star resort. Many guests travel from abroad expecting a great time, but the staff were inflexible. When their shift ended, they took away half-full glasses, uneaten wedding cake, and even the tablecloth beneath your face. They may have the only barkeeper in Italy who doesn’t know how to mix a Negroni, with no Aperol in it, please. The "superior rooms" shown on the website aren’t necessarily what you get. Only 2-3 rooms have the pictured bathtub and canopy bed, while the rest are less luxurious but cost the same. The internet was unstable at best, so bring your own LTE hotspot if you need to work. The outside showers on the patio and the lamps outside didn’t work. When it rained, water came through the patio doors and flooded the rooms. If you stay longer, the pool and restaurant may be off limits during other wedding parties, while you still pay a higher price without any service. It’s a shame the place doesn’t have its act together with service.
