Trullo Sovrano Exclusive BB

Finding the place was a little tricky, but once there we got a very warm welcome. He explained in English what he was going to cook, and we tasted wines before choosing a very good red and a pleasant white. The antipasta was superb, mostly grown or made by him, and there was so much of it that we were nearly bursting. Then we chose between two pasta dishes, both excellent. Two of us were too full for the meat course, but our partners enjoyed it. Dessert was a local speciality made by Michele, and absolutely delicious. The meal was fantastic and very reasonably priced: 170€ for four people, including three bottles of wine. We wanted to book again, but it was sadly fully booked. No surprise! I can’t recommend this place enough.

We stayed in the Ciliegio suite for two nights in Cisternino and were so comfortable. Breakfast from Michele was fantastic, with fresh garden produce, local cheeses (the ricotta!!!), freshly baked focaccia, and cakes. If you get the chance, eat at his restaurant too. His homemade red wine was unlike any homemade wine I’ve tasted before, and it was incredible. I’ll miss wandering among the olive and fig trees, and hope to come back in the future. Michele, Giovanna, and Teresa put so much care into making a stay here enjoyable. Michele makes a great breakfast and shares lots of useful local suggestions. Be sure to try a dinner inspired by the area on site. Your taste buds will thank you. The grounds are peaceful, comfortable, and beautifully kept, with butterflies, bees, and hummingbird hawk-moths fluttering around. It felt like a magical place for the soul and a wonderful base for exploring the Valle d'Itria. This really is a labour of love. My mom was apprehensive when she heard we’d be staying at a "farmhouse" for 6 nights. Once we arrived, she said, "wow, how did you find this place, it's very special". It really is special.

Michele was a wonderful host and gave us lots of tips to make our stay memorable. The rooms are lovely and well kept, and some are small trullo. There’s a huge garden and a beautiful swimming pool overlooking the olive plants. It’s a magical place in the middle of Valle Itria near cisternino. I highly recommend having dinner there with local ingredients.
