Hotel Vannucci

We planned on one night while driving around Umbria, then stayed four because we couldn't bring ourselves to leave the hotel or Citta' della Pieve. Room 109 was gorgeous and felt like home, with a lovely view, a great minibar, good wardrobes, and a huge bathroom with double sinks. Being right in the center made it easy to get around. Breakfast was outstanding, with homemade cakes, fresh fruit, and pretty much anything you might want. Lina, Giulia, Emanuele, Melissa, and everyone else were friendly, relaxed, and accommodating. We held Trina’s birthday here with about a dozen local friends, and it went brilliantly. Everyone had a wonderful time and hated to leave at the end. The staff have an easygoing sense of humor and handled both Italian guests and visitors from abroad exceptionally well. During our visits, the guest mix has been roughly 60:40 Italians to overseas tourists, with some more glamorous guests staying at or using the hotel's facilities. This is part of a family-run group of destinations in central Italy. The service feels naturally warm, like what you find at the very best old-fashioned hotels, and the positive atmosphere seems to come from good management. Flawless.

The historic town entrance is only about 80 feet from the hotel, and the Umbrian countryside around it is stunning. Hotel Vannucci feels classy and beautiful, with lovely decor and surroundings that put you in a good mood. The service is top notch, there's a Michelin restaurant attached, and a nice pool. Six stars!

The rooms are on the small side, but they're thoughtfully laid out, and the staff are friendly. There's a great restaurant too. It's a really lovely hotel in beautiful Città della Pieve, well placed for exploring Tuscany and Umbria!
