Hotel Cappella

The staff were incredible, and the owners were exceptionally friendly. We had such a good ski vacation at Cappella Hotel in Colfosco last week that we’ve already booked a return for next year. It’s right beside the piste, so you can ski in and out, and the indoor and outdoor pools are peaceful places to relax afterwards. The rooms are stunning, modern, and beautifully designed. Dinner had plenty of choices, all made by an excellent chef with top-quality ingredients. The hotel is 100% worthy of its Relais & Châteaux emblem.

The breakfast was the main letdown during our four nights: the baked goods felt generic and unappealing, there was no premium charcuterie, and the à la carte choices were too limited for what you’d expect from a 5* hotel. The spa and pool area were nice, and the location was great. In most places we visit, expectations are rarely surpassed, but this hotel managed it. It has a warm, cosy feel and comfortable rooms with high-quality finishes. You can tell people care. Staff were kind and attentive without hovering, and the atmosphere made it easy to relax. Dinner was a real surprise, with fresh ingredients, appealing menu choices, and precise, professional cooking. The wine list was well put together and moderately priced. We’d come back.

The hotel’s policy is in very poor taste and feels classless. Guests are divided into better and worse categories, with the latter getting less access to the facilities. We booked breakfast only, and were told we couldn’t sit by the windows overlooking the mountains because that part of the restaurant is reserved for full-board guests. The rest of us were sent to the back of the restaurant. Even when 90% of the tables in the “better” section were empty, we weren’t allowed to sit there and were kicked out. This was our last stay. We won’t return unless the hotel changes this inappropriate policy, and we won’t recommend it to any of our friends.

The design, food, and spa were all perfect. A true 5-star hotel, with a family taking care of every detail. Respect to them for the amazing work and investment.
