Villa Tre Cariole

The owners are kind, discreet and available when you need them. The apartments are clean and well equipped, and Villa Tre Cariole is a good base for trips to the lake or the mountains, including the nearby valleys of Chiavenna, Val Masino and Val Malenco. The views of Lario Lake and the surrounding mountains are gorgeous. It's a marvelous place to enjoy the quiet and relaxed atmosphere, away from the traffic and noise found nearer the lake.

We had to leave in desperation on our second evening, cutting our vacation short because the hygiene situation was unbearable. The property was extremely dirty, with neglect throughout, even on the toilet lid. There were scorpions in the bedroom: we found three on the first night and two on the second, including one inside the bed. The room smelled strongly of mold and insecticide. The furnishings were old and dilapidated, and we had to plug holes in the old slatted headboard with toilet paper because the scorpions had made a home there. The towels smelled bad, and there weren't enough of them. The owners were completely unavailable. Their phone was always off, and calls only got voicemail; they acknowledged our messages on WhatsApp only after we insisted. We documented everything and asked for compensation for the harm we suffered and the unused night, but they refused any refund and showed no respect for us as customers. We're still speechless at their lack of professionalism. I've attached photos and videos as evidence of what happened.

We stopped here for a few days on the way to Tuscany, and it was a wonderful place to stay. Everything we needed was there, including a lovely pool and use of the BBQ, and the view was stunning. Host Mauro had plenty of tips for the area.

Mauro is a great host who points out beautiful places you might not discover as a tourist. The apartment was spotless, and there's a lovely pool too. What a wonderful place for a holiday.
