The grounds are lovely, and the quiet setting with free parking was a plus. In summer, with the pool open and better weather, I imagine it’s even nicer. Staff were friendly and breakfast was fine, though there might be more fruit and choice in peak season. The room felt dated and could use an upgrade. The bathroom was spacious enough, but the old shower doors didn’t shut properly, so water got onto the floor. Internet only worked near the window because the signal was weak, and the poor soundproofing meant we could hear other guests. For two nights it was manageable, but a longer stay would’ve been annoying.

After an hour, a very kind staff member brought us beers. That was marvellous. Before that, though, we’d been told we couldn’t get one until the bar opened at 7:30 pm, about four hours later. We’d just walked 21 kilometres across the countryside and were hoping to cool off in the sun. The hotel is easy to reach by car, just off a main road, but its isolated location was a problem for us on foot. The nearest town is a 10 minute drive away, and although plenty of staff were around, at first nobody seemed willing to do this simple, reasonable thing.

We enjoyed our stay. The restaurant food was really good and the service was excellent. Nights were cooler, while the days stayed warm. There’s also a thermal heated pool or pond just past the hotel, which we somehow didn’t notice until our last day.

The room was huge, and the views across Tuscany were gorgeous. The grounds must be beautiful in summer, though we visited on a chilly, rainy day and night. Everyone was kind, and dinner at the restaurant was exquisite. Get the tomato soup, and order more than one bowl. I can’t imagine having better. It seems like a lovely place for a wedding too.

Quiet and peaceful, with a great view of the Tuscan mountains, this place really gave us the Tuscany feeling we wanted. The food was good, the service amazing, and our room was very comfortable. We had a wonderful time and would definitely come back.
