Tenuta Villa Rosato

The rooms are clean and new, with modern amenities, while still having that old country feel. From there, the view over Lake Bomba and the valley is magnificent. This part of Italy feels like a hidden gem, and Tenuta Villa Rosato does too. Rosario was a gracious host, spoke fluent English, and knew how to make guests from all over the world feel at home while sharing his beautiful region. We first stayed here the year before and came back again the following year. I’ve just returned from another incredible stay (10/12/19). Pina was warm, caring, and a pleasure to meet. RIP Rosario, your beautiful heart is with us in your Mother.

We came to the area for a friend’s wedding and were greeted with local beers and snacks. It was a lovely way to unwind and watch the sunset from the roof terrace. The stay was peaceful and comfortable, with air-conditioned rooms and a barbecue area. The mattresses were soft but supportive, and we slept soundly. In the morning, we used the wet room shower, then enjoyed a delicious spread of local food and breakfast choices in the outdoor BBQ and Pizza kitchen. Rosario was always around to help, even with small requests. He told us about life in Abruzzo and shared tips on places to visit nearby. Little villages are close, while beaches and coastal nature reserves are only a short drive away. It’s a great spot for couples or families wanting a quieter, more genuine side of Italian culture away from the tourist trails. There’s plenty in the area, from mountains, lakes, rivers and forests to wild boar, foxes, olive groves, beaches, hilltop castles and villages. You can enjoy local wine and food, plus mountain and water sports in summer and winter. Olive oil is made from the olives grown on site, and you can taste it on request. We also got to try homemade organic fig tart and walnut cake, lovingly made in the traditional way by Rosario’s mother. I can’t recommend this place enough, whether you’re passing through or planning a holiday in Abruzzo.
