Colle Del Barbarossa

The family who run Colle del Barbarossa, mother, father and their two daughters, were lovely and ready to help with any information we needed. Thank you, Nellide, Giuliano, Giorgia and Francesca, for your hospitality. We wish you many lovely guests. We loved the clean, practical country-style room in the old stone house, with its green wooden shutters. Hills, vineyards and olive trees surround it, and stepping outside each morning to the fresh smell of flowers and grass was a pleasure. It’s right by the road and easy to reach, but hardly noisy, as there’s very little traffic, mostly bikes. There are many hiking trails in and around Teolo. Casa Marina in Galzignano Terme is a good place to start, and you can get trail maps there for free. You can visit nearby villages, or head to beautiful, inspiring Padova, about half an hour from Teolo by car. Garda Lake and Udine, Cividale del Friuli are farther away, about two hours. There’s plenty of Italian atmosphere, history, art and beauty to discover.

The hosts’ attentive, gracious welcome made this visit feel perfect. Mr. Giuliano and madam Nellide were so warm, and the quiet little place, surrounded by olive trees, was a relaxing green oasis, just right for a weekend away. The “spuntineria” serves tasty salami, coppa and pancetta from pigs they raise themselves. Their vineyard supplies the wine, and both the Cabernet and Serprino were very good. The cheese is locally made too. Our room was clean, comfortable and spacious.

We were treated like family by the wonderful hosts, in a beautiful setting. The room was first class and had everything we needed. Breakfast among the lovely olive trees was plentiful. I’d recommend this place to anyone looking for peace and attentive care. We’ll definitely return.

A lovely old country house with a delicious view over the surrounding hills. The staff are wonderful, and it’s a whole family running the place. The rooms are big and have air conditioning. There’s a kitchen but no restaurant, so you’ll need to eat at one of the nearby places. Breakfast can be had at a garden table with that same view. It’s a mix of homemade cakes, fresh local fruit and some packaged items, like the marmalades and butter. I wish they made the marmalades themselves. Recommended!
