Appartamento Aurora

We spent our only vacation week after two years of work worrying about whether we could get back into the apartment. We ended up leaving the entrance door unlocked all week because the defective lock kept trapping us outside, and there was no emergency number or WhatsApp contact that I knew of. I didn't want to risk being stranded in the evening and having to call the fire department. When I mentioned that possibility, the handyman laughed. I won't say more about that. It began on Monday night. We'd arrived Saturday and the lock had seemed to work, but after we went out Monday evening, we couldn't open it when we got back. After about 15 minutes of trying, it finally gave way. The agency was closed, and we had no way to reach anyone. I called the agency Tuesday morning. A staff member came with Svitol and spare keys, oiled the lock, tried it, and said it was fine. We returned from the beach at 1:30 that afternoon and were locked out again. The office opened at 4, so we went back then. The same staff member came and called their handyman. After around half an hour of trying, he got the door open. A maintenance man arrived about five minutes later. The handyman spent his time showing us how to work the lock. With more Svitol it opened and closed, but it was still faulty. He said that was normal for that kind of lock, claimed a replacement wouldn't be the same and couldn't be fitted, and only tested it with the door open. He didn't even try closing the door. The agency had taken a €100 deposit on arrival, which was to be returned when we handed the keys back. Since the agency's lady had checked the apartment and said everything was in order, I expected it to be in good condition. Instead, the shutter in the small bedroom with the beds kept getting stuck as we pulled it down, there were ants in the shower, the shower head wouldn't stay on its holder, and the towel rail was coming off the wall. I tried to put up with those things, but the entrance lock was a serious problem. The house was old and poorly maintained, and the agency didn't solve the issue. They made me feel stupid for raising it, while still asking for a deposit. Terrible house and terrible agency. I would never book with them again, and I hope they have to deal with being locked out during their only week off.

I stayed in June, and the price felt a little steep for that time of year. The house does have two roomy bedrooms, and the sea is only 100 meters away.

That apartment Gabetti Agency rented us was in such poor shape that I found it disgusting. I've never come across anything like it, or imagined homes like this were still around. A dreadful experience, and I won't use Gabetti Agency again.

The sea view is fantastic, and the beach is close by. Furnishings are typical Italian style. The second, children's room is really a narrow sleeping passage with two beds.
