Guest House In Contrà

The house was covered in cobwebs and cleaning had clearly been neglected. There was no air conditioning despite it being listed, and with temperatures of 30-35°C it was unbearably hot. We couldn't open the windows because there were no fly screens, and insects were all over the walls. The bathroom was barely 40 cm wide, with almost no room to use the toilet or shower. The towels were so rough they chafed our skin. The advertised parking garage wasn’t there, and there wasn’t even a reserved space. We would have had to leave our new car on a busy street with careless drivers. In the kitchen, the supposed oven was a useless space heater in the middle of the room, and the coffee machine only gave cold water and made undrinkable coffee. Even the glasses and cups were only half washed. The seating area was a hard wooden bench with two garden cushions and a tiny TV that got no channels. Three of us had to sit on the floor while one person got the bench. What a seating area, right? The advertised air conditioning, nice towels, working coffee maker, oven, parking, sofa, and cleanliness simply weren’t there. We booked this small cottage in Lusiana Conco for four, my parents, my boyfriend, and me. After contacting Booking.com and the owner, she replied disrespectfully, saying, “It’s not my fault if your expectations are so high.” We weren’t offered free cancellation despite asking repeatedly, and got back only €30. We drove there from midnight until 11 a.m. on Saturday, argued with Booking.com and the owner, then drove home 11 hours after leaving, just three hours later. We’re devastated. The owner should be ashamed. We’re extremely disappointed and want other travelers to know about this place and the owner’s dismissive response to legitimate complaints. 0/5 stars.

We booked through Booking.com and were very disappointed. The listing mentioned a parking garage, air conditioning, and a sofa or seating area, but those weren’t there. The photos made the house look spacious and suited to several people, though it seems designed for two at most. The bathroom was so cramped that there was barely space to use the toilet or shower, especially if you’re tall or large. There were no mosquito nets, and the trucks passing at night were very disruptive, though that isn’t the house’s fault. The listing included amenities that simply weren’t available, and Booking.com wasn’t willing to help. We can’t recommend the Guest House in Contra. The owner should update the booking information as soon as possible. This was completely unacceptable. 0/5 stars.

I stayed in this charming apartment in Vitarolo (Lusiana) from June 22nd to 26th. The Asiago plateau, around 800 meters above sea level, is known as the “seven municipalities.” Its hilly scenery is great for long walks and bike rides. The house has two floors linked by a wooden staircase, with an entrance and dining area and one bedroom on each floor. The first floor also has a shower bathroom. There’s no bidet, which is common in this area. Some exposed stone walls make it feel pleasantly cool when you come in, probably thanks to the natural insulation. The dining area has a table, four chairs, and a small wooden sofa. It isn’t very comfortable, so a stylish fabric one might make watching the wall-mounted TV nicer. There’s a pellet stove for winter. The bedrooms are simply furnished, while the kitchenette is well equipped: induction hob, capsule coffee machine, toaster with egg boiler, electric kettle, small microwave, fridge, dishwasher, and plenty of cutlery, plates, glasses, and utensils. Under the stairs there’s a good supply of cleaning products. I appreciated the welcome basics of salt, oil, and vinegar, plus coffee capsules, including decaf, and barley coffee. There’s a grocery store right across from the house, and the pharmacy is about a kilometer away. The stay is independent, but the very kind owners are always available and quick to answer questions or help with needs. Recommended for a really relaxing stay.
