Conversano made a great base for exploring Polignano al Mare and Matera. Both are lovely, though very touristy, while Conversano itself feels more local, with romantic streets and plenty of good restaurants. We stayed at hotel palazzo d'Erchia in april 2023, in a beautiful building. The owner was genuinely helpful and friendly, and breakfast had what we needed: fresh bread, fruit, good coffee and more. We drove there and had no trouble finding a space. The hotel gave us a paper to display for free parking about 200 meters away, within the restricted zone. They can also register your license plate so you can drive into that area, so arriving by car was no problem.

From the outside, it looks like a plain building, but inside it's cozy, clean, beautiful, and very well cared for. The owner is attentive and kind, and both the room and bathroom were large and clean. I'd definitely stay again. The one thing that could be better is breakfast, especially the fresh bread.

Right in the centre of Conversano, close to the castle and local restaurants with fantastic food. Apollonia, the owner, was welcoming and very helpful. A great hotel.
