Hotel Murano

I chose this hotel for its WiFi, and the hotel and staff are pleasant in other ways, but families should know about this rule. I was told my friend and her children couldn’t come up to my room, even briefly to get out of a storm. They had been on the nearby beach, and my room had two beds, a balcony, and a lovely view. The receptionist stopped us, and after I asked for the manager, the manager confirmed we had to remain downstairs in the lobby. While we waited, one of the girls needed the bathroom and was told to go down the street. We were also told a girl couldn’t eat our own banana. Staff took the lobby candy away after each girl had taken a couple of pieces. When the baby boy wet his diaper, they did let us change him, but in a public bathroom instead of my room. I found the attitude toward families strange and distressing, especially over something as small as a child eating her own banana. Edit: The hotel sent a short written reply without an apology, saying only registered guests may be in a room at any time. They offered to refund the unused nights if I left, which seems relevant since the full stay is charged upfront. They also said my friend and I could keep spending time in the lobby. I asked whether we could use the empty private beach area together, with its chairs and umbrellas, but haven’t had an answer so far.

Great food, a private beach, and a comfortable stay in a great location. Highly recommend!
