Mulino a Vento

Our favorite part was the view across the valley from the front of Villa Mulino a Vento, especially from the outdoor seating area. The private pool is a short walk up a path beside the house and has a lovely view too. We were five adults, with plenty of space to spare; it would easily work for three couples. There are three large bedrooms, three bathrooms upstairs, and a small powder room by the entry. Two bedrooms have en-suite showers, while the third bathroom is just outside that room. The kitchen and dining areas are well stocked, there are two fridges, and there's a separate living room with a TV and a great view. The photos were accurate. We used the villa as a base for day trips, usually an hour to an hour and a half away, including Montepulciano, Assisi, Sienna, and Florence. Cortona is close enough to walk to, about ten minutes to the edge and fifteen to the center, but it's downhill there and uphill on the way back. The road up is narrow, and parking near the center is limited, so walking worked best for us. The villa sits on a hill just outside town, though the map made the approach look simpler than it is. We arrived late on a Saturday and Luigi kindly arranged a few groceries for breakfast and a snack. He was a pleasure to deal with before and during our stay. I can be wary of VRBO bookings, but we were very pleased with Villa Mulino a Vento.

We were only four people, so the spacious farmhouse felt almost too big for us. Still, it was beautifully furnished, spotless, and set in a gorgeous spot with wonderful countryside views. The pool was lovely, and we were lucky to have warm enough weather to swim. Nicoletta, Beppe, and their son Luigi made us feel very welcome during our week with friends in June 2015. Cortona's shops are an easy, leisurely walk away, along with plenty of good restaurants. Nicoletta's suggestions were worth following. We had a wonderful stay and would happily recommend Mulino a Vento, 10 out of 10.
