Tenuta La Scure

We spent 10 days here, which gave us time to relax at the villa and explore lots of places within about an hour. It made a perfect base, and a lovely place to disconnect and reconnect with myself. Grazie mille, Francesca and Camilo, for making our stay even more special than we expected. There's plenty to explore around Cortona, from Piazza della Repubblica and the Diocesan Museum to the Etruscan Academy Museum, Basilica of Santa Margherita, and the hidden monastery near Cortona. We also went to Passignano sul Trasimeno, Castiglione del Lago, Siena, Montepulciano, Pienza, Orvieto, and our favorite, the hosts' recommendation of Civita di Bagnoregio. We visited Assisi, Panicale, and Lake Trasimeno too. The property itself has lovely trails through the Tuscan scenery. We visited the horses, deer, geese, and turkeys, and had fresh eggs and berries for breakfast on our own patio every morning. Evenings in the hot tub with a glass of their local wine were a great way to wind down after a day out, or simply enjoy a peaceful day. We loved relaxing by the octagonal pool with its breathtaking mountain views. The hosts were amazing, warm, and attentive, and made us feel right at home. Their on-site restaurant was superb. I highly recommend the steak and zucchini, and the brick oven pizzas were the best we had in Italy so far.

We had the whole place to ourselves for a week, which meant total peace and relaxation, and a lovely, restful stay. The views were breathtaking, especially from the quiet pool area. The house is tastefully furnished, modern but still full of charm and character, with the original building's character preserved. It's beautifully located and lovingly maintained, with attention to detail throughout. Francesca and Camillo are warm, dedicated hosts who made us feel welcome right away. A real highlight was making fresh pasta together one evening and eating it on the terrace. It was unforgettable and so delicious. Camillo also gave us a fantastic tour of the property, where we saw horses, pigs, two adorable dogs, and plenty more to discover. Thank you so much, Francesca and Camillo!
