Sole Azzurro

It’s hard to describe what a lovely stay this was, but I really enjoyed it. Caterina and Giuseppe made us feel like family, looking after every need with a warmth that’s rare these days. The calm atmosphere, the smell of the pastries Caterina makes each day for breakfast, and the feeling when you arrive that you’ve been there before all stayed with me. Leaving felt like leaving a little piece of myself behind.

Caterina really made our weekend. She was so warm and helpful, and even baked me a delicious gluten-free cake. The rooms are simple but cute and clean, with a small, tidy garden and free parking. The place is also well situated between San Vito and Custonaci. I’d read the reviews beforehand, and they matched what we found.

Breakfast was generous and good, and Mrs. Caterina was very kind, with a simple, delightful manner. The B&B is just outside Custonaci on the road to San Vito lo Capo, while still close to town. Our room had two single beds and one double, plus an ensuite bathroom. Everything was very clean and comfortable. Recommended.

We spent five lovely days here in the Purgatorio area, just outside Custonaci, and I’d love to come back. It’s a handy base for Erice, Trapani, Macari, and San Vito Lo Capo. The greenery around the B&B and its carefully kept entrance made a great impression, and the owners, Caterina and her husband Peppe, were so thoughtful and kind throughout our stay. Our room was very spacious, with air conditioning, a TV, and a large bathroom. It was cleaned and the towels were changed every two days. Breakfast was plentiful, with cakes, tarts, yogurt, fruit juice, and fruit from their garden. Caterina also made a lactose-free donut for me because I’m lactose intolerant. We had to leave early on Saturday and would have missed breakfast, so she surprised us by serving it an hour earlier, just for us. Definitely worth visiting!
