Camping La Sfinge

A friend had recommended this campsite. We planned to arrive on August 13th with our campervan and book a caravan pitch for two nights, since that was the only option left. They couldn't accept it because the minimum stay was three nights, but the booking system only let us select two. Such a shame!

The staff are really friendly and helpful, and the cabin rooms are very clean, with everything you need, including air conditioning. It's good value and quiet, with lots of greenery and shady camping pitches. There's a free shuttle to the nearby train station, with a friendly driver, and the station is close to the beach. A five-minute walk through lush woods takes you to a rock-climbing area, where streams make a nice place for a dip.

We stopped for one night on the way to France. The pitches were level, though we needed a chock to raise one wheel slightly. The facilities were clean, if a little dated, and the ACSI rate was excellent value. Have cash ready if you're using that discount. It's a quirky site, spread across different terraces with paths going everywhere! Dogs are welcome, though several cats were roaming free. There used to be a dog walk beside the campsite leading into the woods. It's a bit of a scramble, so walking boots are a good idea, especially if your dog likes woods and water. For the beach, take the free shuttle to town to sunbathe or catch a train. There's a supermarket and a restaurant with fabulous pizza just a two-minute walk from the entrance. A great visit, and I can see why people stay longer.

Even on hot days, the trees around the campsite made us feel cosy. Everything was very clean, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The free shuttle to the beach and train station is a great feature. If you're bringing a tent, take a long electric cable. There's a grocery store very close by, and the restaurant beside the site is very good. The location gives you the peace and quiet you want, while making it easy to reach Liguria's beautiful beaches and attractions by train.
