The staff were nice and efficient, and the hotel is in an excellent spot for getting to the train station. Finding the place, communicating and checking in all went smoothly. The room was very basic: there was no hand soap, though they kindly provided a flannel, hand towel and body towel. The electrical sockets were temperamental, and with no heating it felt cold at night. Noise from other guests carried clearly, so it may not suit light sleepers. Breakfast is available in the morning. The room was very inexpensive, and the price reflects the facilities.

The hotel is cheap, so some people’s expectations seem unrealistic. We’d read the reviews and came with very low expectations, just wanting somewhere to sleep and shower. It’s dated and needs TLC in places. Our room looked freshly painted, but the balcony was dirty and had no furniture. It wasn’t the kind of balcony you’d choose to sit on all day anyway, and the lake is a five-minute walk down the road. The bed was uncomfortable, though we slept well enough. The bathroom was very dated and hot, with a wet-room setup that wasn’t ideal. The shower had plenty of pressure and responsive temperature controls. There was air conditioning, but it was preset with no controller and didn’t cool the room adequately when it was over 30°C outside. Staff were pleasant whenever we needed them, and the room was cleaned well every day. Still, the balcony, A/C unit and wall heater need a deep clean. The location is excellent, less than five minutes from the train station and a five-minute walk to the old town and lake. There’s also a supermarket, wine shop and bakery within a few minutes. That makes it a good budget base if you just need somewhere to stay, rather than a hotel to relax in all day. With some work and improvements, it could easily reclaim its 3-star rating. If you need a place to sleep and a decent shower between days exploring Lago di Garda, I’d consider it. The money we saved on accommodation let us explore more and enjoy some great bars and restaurants.

The staff were really nice and friendly, the location was great near the train station, and the Wi-Fi worked perfectly and was really fast. But the room was pretty bad. I don’t mind old furniture if it works, but the desk felt like it would collapse when I leaned on it, and the bathroom towel rail fell off. The bathroom was all wet-room style, which I don’t mind, but the shower curtain enclosed the toilet along with the shower. I don’t want to shower with a toilet. There were random construction(?) things left on the balcony, and the shutters didn’t work, so morning light woke me up. The hallway lights were out, and I had to use my torch to find the keyhole. The walls were really thin, so I heard other guests coming and going in the evening and at night. Breakfast was included, but neither juice machine worked and the coffee mug on my table was dirty. I don’t even want to check what I paid. If it was more than about €25 a night, it wasn’t worth it.

The bathroom was dirty, and the lights didn’t work. The worst part, though, was having only hot water. We had to wash everything and shower with it, even though it was June and nearly over. The staff had also taken away the AC remote. Really bad experience. Never again, and I wouldn’t recommend it.
