Villa Lilla (closed)

The hosts are so welcoming, helpful and caring that Villa Lilla feels like home. My room was the only one available, the one for three people, and it was very spacious and comfortable, with a great bed. The accommodation was clean too. Breakfast was amazing. There was a nice range of breads, cookies and croissant, all prepared just minutes before breakfast time. One morning I left early for a day trip, and when I got back the owner was waiting at the door, worried about whether I was safe. That really showed how much they care about guests. Sorry about that, I'll bring you a nice coffee next time as compensation! It's quite close to the train station and main square. Just perfect. I had an amazing experience and hope I can come back with more time to relax and enjoy.

The breakfast spread was generous, with homemade pastries, and the staff were attentive and courteous. Villa Lilla is beautifully looked after, from the garden and building to the rooms, and everything was very clean. It’s also an easy walk between the train station and Lake Garda. The best cared-for hotel I’ve stayed in. Highly recommended.

They cancelled our booking without discussing it with us, leaving us without a hotel during a busy season. We eventually found another place later that day, where the people were very friendly. The issue was that they would only accept us if we provided a complete copy of our passport. I wanted to cover my Dutch BSN, which they didn’t need and which is sensitive because of identity fraud. They started shouting at us.

The pool area is nice, breakfast was OK, and parking is free on the street or €10 a night in the underground car park. It’s about a five-minute walk to the marina and close to the A4 toward Milan. Villa Lilla is quiet, affordable, friendly, and cosy, with a good location and fantastic service. Great value if you’re spending a few days in Desenzano.
