The wine tasting was the highlight of our four-night stay in September. Francesco was a lovely host, with great stories and delicious wines. The owner was also super friendly, spoke very good English, and worked hard to make sure everyone enjoyed their stay. The houses are a little old, but spacious and well equipped, and their history makes up for it. We loved the very clean pool and its view over the farmland. The scenery is beautiful, there are nice restaurants nearby, and the supermarket is a five-minute drive down the hill. In summer, there can be wasps and mosquitoes, like elsewhere in Europe, so bring insect spray.

The town was cute, the scenery beautiful, and we had a great dinner at Da Sergio’s. But our stay didn’t match what we had arranged with Francesco or what the website advertised. We were six adults without a car and had booked shuttle pick-ups and drop-offs. Although he said most guests have cars, he assured us it would be fine. The site mentions a six-person Mercedes van, but all six of us, with our luggage, ended up crammed into the back of an old two-seat Mitsubishi truck. It started smoking under the hood. There was no truck or shuttle after that, so we had to manage the 40-minute walk to town and back. The reception wasn’t open every day. When we met the next day, we learned quad tours weren’t offered, despite being listed on the website. We also didn’t get a wine tasting because Francesco had emails to do, though he gave us a bottle to try. A few things to know: you’ll need a vehicle. The website is out of date and misrepresents the facilities. The accommodation is bare bones, with clean bedding and toilet paper but nothing else. Check the room fans, since one was broken, and check the fridge seal, ours was broken and it didn’t get as cold as it should. Guests have to take care of recycling, and there’s a cleaning fee. Bikes weren’t available, apparently they only have two.
