Limonaia in Salento

A very cozy apartment close to the sea, with nature all around and an amazing bay just a short walk away. Everything was sanitary, and we really enjoyed staying with this host.

We were there for under five minutes before deciding to leave. The dirt and overall condition were just too much, and the owner, ELIO, tried to persuade us to like the place. We had to check in at 6:00 PM because, he said, the (non-existent) cleaning ladies couldn't get the room ready earlier. It didn't look as if it had been cleaned later either. After we complained, he offered to sanitize it with Marseille soap. It would take ENTIRE DAYS to make the place livable. At La Limonaia in Salento, there were visible leaks and dirt on the walls, dead insects trapped behind the glass in the paintings, cigarette butts on the floor, flies stuck in the canopy bed, and dead spiders behind the bed. The sofa hadn't been made up, so the sheets hadn't been changed; the talcum powder was dusty, and the shower tray was indescribable. There was plenty more, and calling it disgusting barely covers it. The photos speak for themselves. Eating or staying in a place this neglected is unacceptable, especially at a NOT CHEAP price when you're expecting a well-kept property in Salento. The owner also doesn't want to refund the full amount, so I'll pursue other options. I'll never return and absolutely advise against booking. IT'S DEGRADED. DO NOT BOOK. Absolutely abominable. 0 stars, A TOTAL DISGUST.

The animals were what I especially liked, and Elio clearly takes very good care of them on the property. It's also a charming, very clean place just steps from the sea. Elio is friendly, kind, and helpful. Recommended!!

The sea stayed beautifully clear, with all that green around it giving the area a tropical feel. I had a fantastic time here. The owner was welcoming and fun to talk to, and pointed out different ways to spend my five days in the area. Definitely worth recommending......
