Our hosts gave us free bus and train passes, which was an unexpected bonus we really appreciated. We spent a week here for cross-country skiing in five nearby villages, all reachable by bus. The Old Town location was peaceful but still close to everything we wanted, and the price was excellent value. We had everything we needed to cook, which came in handy since restaurants were often closed when we were ready to eat. There’s also a shared garage with ski racks, a boot dryer, a waxing station, plus an exercise bike and weight machine to use after skiing or on bad weather days.

The delay in replying about check-in was minor compared with how available and courteous the owners were. We were pleased with our stay in the chalet for a few nights, and would definitely choose it again if we returned to Dobbiaco. It’s two minutes on foot from the centre, and there’s covered parking for the car. The interiors are exceptionally well kept, clean, and furnished in an authentic yet modern style, with quality finishes. It’s well equipped for a holiday, from furniture to accessories and household items. There’s also a lovely furnished terrace garden, a nice spot to spend free time or have breakfast and meals.

Three days after checking out, the owner still hadn’t replied to my text or phone call. Check-in was a disaster. The woman who “manages” the property never met me, and tried to charge €40 a night for my 1-year-old daughter sleeping in our bed, even though that went against the property’s policies. Luckily Booking.com stepped in. No one contacted me for days, and when we arrived there was only half a roll of toilet paper. The property is beautiful, but the management is unacceptable.

We ended up with an apartment we hadn’t booked. The one we reserved was modernly furnished and had a large terrace, but what we got was old, with a tiny balcony and a torn old chair that couldn’t be used. The kitchen was dated, the bathroom dirty and covered in cobwebs, and the washing machine didn’t work. The owner just shrugged it off. The location is good and parking is convenient, but for what you get, it costs too much. The €25 compensation we received felt like a joke.

We stayed in the attic in the second week of September. The apartment was clean, well kept, and very nice, with a large balcony where we could relax and take in the view. The garage was handy, and we barely had to think about the car. Mr. Pichler was helpful with all our requests. Dobbiaco is a beautiful, simple, peaceful town, and the apartment makes a great base for exploring the Dolomites. It has all the amenities you need. I can’t wait to book again!
