Hotel Silvesterhof

The bright, spacious dining room was lovely, and dinner was excellent, from the light cheese and vegetable buffet to the first and second courses. The hotel is well kept, and its bar and terrace are a real highlight, with a beautiful mountain view. I’d definitely recommend it.

The location is convenient, the place is beautiful, and the staff were helpful. But the mattresses really need updating. I think they’re still spring and wool ones. The menu is quite limited apart from breakfast, which may be the best meal here. They only supplied soap at the start, and our towels weren’t changed for five days. The electrical outlets are a problem too: one in the bathroom, one for the TV, and just one by the bed when we had two phones to charge. What are you meant to do, charge them in the bathroom? At least add a triple outlet. The Wi-Fi is free, but it doesn’t work at all.

UPDATE, 2019 I came back and was pleased. Breakfast now included jam croissants, frozen like you get in many bars but really good, and the WiFi in the rooms was perfect and even fast. It’s a very good choice in beautiful Dobbiaco, in the S. Silvestro area, just 1 km from the center. Mrs. Rita and the dining room waitresses were especially kind. Keep it up. On my earlier stay, the owner was kind, helpful, and friendly, and the rooms were very clean. We stayed half-board. Dinner was decent, varied, good quality, and portions were adequate, though some first courses could have used tastier local products. Breakfast was fine, but could do with more variety and different pastries. I’d never seen a hotel without croissants before. Our room was a bit small but worked for us. The balcony chairs need replacing, and a little light out there would be useful for reading after dinner in the cool air. The big drawback then was poor WiFi everywhere, with none in the room. The hotel is in a magnificent spot, about a 10-minute walk from Dobbiaco center. I’ll definitely return.

They were very kind, even moving breakfast earlier to 6:15 a.m. on the day we left. We stayed six days, with buffet breakfast and a vegetable buffet at dinner. You could have seconds, and there was an alternative dish as well.
