We liked the hotel itself: it was clean, spacious, and well looked after, and the staff were generally friendly, especially by the pools. But several service problems made the stay disappointing, and the restaurant experience may put us off coming back. We were charged too much on most of our bills, so check them carefully. We also booked half board and were surprised to find that water wasn’t included with meals. There was never salt or pepper on the tables, and restaurant service was slow throughout. Breakfast was particularly frustrating on a few mornings. We waited more than an hour for fried eggs and didn’t even get an apology. Another time, we waited 45 minutes for a restaurant transfer, then gave up and found out it was only a 10-minute walk. Why offer a service if it can’t be carried out? The worst moment was at Ginepro restaurant. A waiter named Fabrizio complained that our 4-year-old children were too loud. My daughter was pretending to be a waitress and picked up a glass from another table. Rather than handle it calmly, he rushed over, snatched the glass from our table, and said, “Not funny.” I’ve never seen such poor behavior from a waiter. It was unnecessary and made us very uncomfortable.

There are loads of great activities, and the food is a real draw for anyone who loves eating well. The selection and quality are both spot on. If you're staying at the village, I recommend upgrading to the Chia Passport meal plan: lunch is included, and you can eat at a number of restaurants.

Restaurants and bars close at inconvenient times, and staff literally refused to serve us. The service was bad and people were unfriendly. Terrible hotel, I’d strongly advise against booking here.

The room was the real letdown: tiny, cluttered with unnecessary old furniture, and with no view. We enjoyed everything else on the trip, so it was genuinely disappointing to have such a bad room. The beach train was handy, taking us right to the beaches, and the pool and bar area was nice. The food was good too. The photographer by the pool took beautiful pictures of us.

The kids’ entertainment was a big help with our children. The team does the job with real passion. Food was good too, though there could be more choice since most of it was nearly the same. Our problem was the air conditioning. How can tourists be put in a room where it doesn’t work? We set it to the lowest temperature and were still sweating. I called reception and said it had been like that for two days. She told me, “Hopefully tomorrow.”
