Camping Eden

Our daughter was happiest at the pool and playground, and we found the bungalow clean, spacious enough for our family and nicely arranged, with a welcome outdoor kitchen. The lake is close, though its beach is very small. The restaurant by the pool serves mediocre food, but the service is good. A few things bothered us. The bungalows are packed quite close together, and you get only one roll of toilet paper for the whole stay, so you have to buy more yourself. Sheets and towels cost €10 per person if you haven’t brought your own. We also weren’t told in advance about the €40 final cleaning charge. It’s hard to see what it covers when guests are expected to take out the rubbish, remove the bed linen and clean the stove. They withhold €10 from the deposit if you don’t take out the rubbish, so the fee feels far too high given how much cleaning you still have to do.

The campsite is small and cosy, with clean, well-designed shared facilities. Our stay began badly, though. I had asked for a pitch for two smaller vans, three adults and one small child. I was offered a pitch for up to 85, listed for two adults and one child. I confirmed, understanding the offer would cover our group and both vans, and then paid the requested deposit. When I tried to sort out the misunderstanding, the manager at reception was affected and very rude. He shouted that it wasn’t possible and told us to leave if we didn’t like it. After a long drive in hot weather with a tired little child, we stayed. In the end, our friend was allowed to park a second camper beside us when he arrived, without an extra camper fee. The small beach also wasn’t maintained as well as the rest of the campsite. We found a dead rat and a used condom in the water there. After our experience at reception, we preferred not to tell the staff.

The cabins are spotless and set up with everything you need. The heating and air conditioning worked really well, especially on rainy days, and we liked the disco lights in the shower. The one change I’d make is softer lighting inside for romantic evenings, since it’s quite bright. Reception staff were brilliant and very helpful, especially Jiacomo.

The pitches are pretty dusty, but we thought it was good value. The campsite has lots of facilities, and both the restaurant and beach bar are decent. It’s in a great spot by the lake, close to a large supermarket and plenty of other amenities. One thing to watch: if you don’t need electricity, tell them, or it’ll be charged by default.
