We stayed at La Cucchetta at the end of November with our five-month-old and our dog, and the place felt like such a peaceful escape. From the terrace there are lovely views over Lago Maggiore, especially at sunset. We enjoyed the fresh air and morning walks in the forest, where we even saw deer, while Arona, Stresa, and shopping centers were still close by. The room was spacious, nicely finished, and surprisingly warm for late autumn, with underfloor heating. The kitchen had what we needed to cook, though kitchen towels, oven mitts, and a couple of socket adapters would have helped. Breakfast was simple and fresh, with plenty of fruit and a juice maker. What made our stay especially memorable was how caring everyone was. Mili brought so much warmth to each day, and the owners were just as welcoming. Their animals seemed well cared for too. The horses were beautiful and sociable, and there were sheep, cats, and dogs around the property. We’d happily return for the comfort, quiet, and kind hosts.

The lake and nearby town are beautiful, and the islands are well worth taking a camera along for. Back at the property, the atmosphere felt special, with lovely people and great service. My children made friends with the dogs, cats, and even the zebra. We had delicious breakfasts too, with coffee, eggs made individually for us, and a juicer we could use ourselves. We only booked two nights, but could easily have stayed longer.

Seeing the lake and horses in the meadow first thing in the morning was amazing. The whole stay felt magical and was wonderful.

We’d stayed at La Cuchetta once before, and it’s still a lovely place to come when visiting the lake area. The property is like something from a fairytale, with beautiful shared spaces and grounds that are clearly well cared for. The views are amazing, and there’s room to walk outside. We arrived late, when it was dark and the estate looked deserted, but Charid welcomed us and put together a lovely breakfast the next morning with everything we could have wanted. Alessandra was a great host.
