Hotel Veronesi La Torre

The free garage parking and breakfast to go were positives, but they couldn’t make up for the rest of the stay. At €177 a night, I didn’t feel the value was there, and it certainly didn’t seem like a 4 star hotel. The walk to the room was surprisingly long, and on entering, the place felt old and in need of renovation. The room smelled odd and was very small, with barely any space for luggage. In the bathroom, the toilet bowl had yellow stains, and the shower could only be operated from outside, which was inconvenient.

The shower needs improvement: the water pressure was low, and getting the temperature right was difficult. Otherwise, this is a great hotel with high-quality rooms and hospitable staff throughout. It’s very close to Verona Airport, with little airplane noise, and there’s plenty of free parking both outside and in the garage. The setting near the edge of an industrial area doesn’t make a great first impression, but the large, well-kept lawn has a nice seating area outside. The restaurant menu is limited, but the food quality is outstanding. Breakfast is good, and the breakfast room is OK. Both gyms are very well equipped, and the pools are good too. Verona and the Valpolicella vinyard area are nearby, making this a great base for exploring by rental car. Excellent price quality ratio, highly recommended!

The room was spacious, with a decent-sized fridge, plenty of wardrobe storage, and a view over the inner courtyard. Soundproofing was good, with no airplane noise despite the airport nearby. The large bed was made by joining two singles and had a solid, comfortable backrest. But the air conditioning was hard to control: cooling took a while, and I still woke up warm. There was only a floor lamp and two wall lights by the bed, so the room felt dim at night without an overhead light. No coffee or tea-making facilities either. The marble-tiled bathroom was functional, with toiletries fixed to the wall, including body lotion and conditioner. The shower had enough room to move and dry off comfortably, but it took a while for the water to heat up, and there was no temperature gauge, so judging it was tricky at first. The room was mostly quiet, though I sometimes heard the wooden floor creak and noise from above. Breakfast was in a separate area a short walk away, with a large dining space and indoor and outdoor seating. The food and drink were arranged in sections for hot food, pastries, drinks, and coffee. The cappuccino from the proper machine was excellent, the fresh watermelon incredibly sweet, and the bacon and eggs nicely cooked. The cakes were average, and breakfast service was fine but nothing special. The quick, efficient reception check-in was a plus. I stayed in Room 118 on the first floor, but the lift was tricky to find, so I carried my bags upstairs. The hotel is convenient for the airport, about a 19-minute walk or a four-minute drive. The refurbished building has an interesting look, with a large car centerpiece in the courtyard and a swimming pool nearby. Parking is next to the property.

There’s lots of greenery around, and the surroundings are beautiful. The indoor heated pool was great, and the outdoor pool was super too, though it isn’t heated. The hotel restaurant has a variety of good food and wines. There’s free underground parking connected to the hotel. It’s close to Verona and also very near the airport, so you’re fine if you don’t mind jet engine noise.
