The owner runs two B&Bs, and we stayed at the one on Via Roma. Hospitality was top-notch. Our room was very clean, with comfortable sheets, a minibar to choose from, and lots of space. The breakfast spread was generous, with four kinds of milk, and a partition kept the private bathroom, which was outside the bedroom, separate from the rest of the flat. It can get quite chilly when the temperature drops because the heater is small for the room, and traffic going by can be noisy, so bring earplugs.

I booked through booking com and had a terrible experience. In November, Sicily can be cold, so I asked the owner if I could have a second blanket. He said I’d have to pay extra for a larger room with more blankets. I’d never encountered that before and told him so. He then said he was calling booking to cancel my reservation and told me to leave the property. If you want to feel secure in accommodation you’ve already paid for, don’t book the Doctor House hotel. The owner seems so proud of himself that he’s put his own picture on the wall.
