Hotel Orsa Maggiore

The reception and restaurant staff were very nice and helpful during our ski holiday. The room was clean, though the furnishings were dated, and the old mattresses were uncomfortable. Up to that point, I’d have called it an okay budget hotel for the money. But the food was the worst I’ve ever had in Italy. We ate breakfast and dinner there for four days, and it felt as if there wasn’t a proper chef, just some random guy from the village cooking. It was completely tasteless, especially the meat. They really need to improve the kitchen. For the food, my rating would be 0 stars.

The location is fantastic, and the rooms are about what you’d expect for the price. Heating was a problem, though. Some rooms get unbearably hot, while the heating doesn’t work at all in others. Dinner was an affront to Italian cuisine. A few very kind waiters were the only thing that saved the experience.

Kind staff and a good hotel. I had a double room for single use with a balcony and a partial mountain view. The international breakfast was good. There was some dust, though, and the bathroom and bedroom floors hadn’t been cleaned well.

The staff are friendly, and the price is cheap. But you can feel the low cost in every way. The apartments are spacious and terribly unequipped: no towels and no gas in the stove. A one-hour sauna session costs 40€. The food is terrible. All in all, I definitely would NOT recommend this place.
