Balay Resort

The pool was clean and well maintained, and the restaurant and bar staff were friendlier. Inside, the hotel was clean and organized. But the pool staff really let the hotel down. We went to the pool three times during our seven-day trip, and each visit left us uncomfortable. On the first day, the 'lifeguard', who acted as the pool doorman, wouldn't let us sit beside family members who had arrived earlier, even though there were plenty of empty loungers nearby. On our second and third visits, he insisted we take loungers in spots we didn't want and wouldn't let us move to empty ones. Local residents, though, seemed free to pick wherever they liked. Local children were allowed to jump and dive and have fun, but our child and other British children were told off for doing the same. We spoke with two other British families who'd had a similar experience. It felt very odd to be treated that way.
